The West Dorset area has a fantastic range of restaurants on offer. With so much to choose from, below we highlight some everyday dining, local eats and gastronomic options. With the area getting increasingly popular, we would recommend booking well in advance during peak periods, or even off peak weekends.

Best for: Fresh seafood, great views, beach takeaway
The Hive Beach Café is located right on the beach at Burton Bradstock on the Jurassic Coast, with far reaching views across Lyme Bay and Chesil Beach. It's the perfect location to enjoy fresh, local seafood, homemade cakes or just a simple cup of tea, on one of our favourite beaches.

River Cottage Kitchen & Store
A new kitchen & store has opened up at River Cottage HQ, just a 10 minute drive away from Charmouth. Its a casual space to drop by for breakfast, lunch, drinks and cakes, and incredible views, a great terrace, seven days a week, as well as a store where you can buy our River Cottage products and books.

The Lyme Bay Cafe, Lyme Regis
Best for: Brunch, Great Views, Coffee & and cake
Our favourite brunch spot. The Lyme Bay Cafe offers panoramic views over the Bay, with a large south facing terrace and stylish interior in the centre of Lyme Regis. The cafe focuses on locally sourced food and drink.

The Whole Hog, Lyme Regis
Best for: Takeaway hog roast and coffee
A ‘hole in the wall’ at the bottom of Broad Street, which does delicious roast baps of pulled pork, chicken, and jackfruit, along with doughnuts and coffee. Great to takeaway and find a spot on the beach to enjoy!

The Kiosk, Lyme Regis
Best for: Takeaway coffee, bagels, deckchair views
Overlooking the pebble beach on Marine Parade, this takeaway kiosk offers great coffees, cakes, pastries, breakfast bagels, toasties and ice creams. Plenty of deckchairs and picnic tables makes it a great place to stop by.

The Parlour, Burton Bradstock
Best for: Woodfired pizzas, local cider, live music
A family run restaurant offering traditional Neapolitan style pizzas, home cooked Italian meals and Sunday roasts. Located on Bredy Farm outside of Burton Bradstock, there’s a great terrace, local ciders, and live music nights.

Best for: Beach side drinks
A stylish cafe bar, with a beach side terrace, serving brunch, burgers and crab sandwiches to name a few. We love it for a beach side drink with great views and a buzzy atmosphere.

The Royal Oak
Traditional pub with great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff. Has a small outdoor seating area at the front of the property. Booking required.

Charmouth Fish Bar
Local fish & chip takeaway is situated down the road on the main street. Offers a traditional fish and chip takeaway menu along with pizzas. There is a app to pre order, which would recommend during peak season if you want to avoi the wait outside.

Charmouth Bakery
Hidden off the main street on Barr’s Lane, Charmouth bakery offers fresh bread and baked goods regularly. They also do takeaway coffee and even bacon sandwiches for breakfast which are a favourite of ours!

A small restaurant offering an exceptional tasting menu which changes with the seasons, working with the best of local food and drinks suppliers to showcase the best of the west country. We particular love the freshness of the food, and drinks pairings, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic to choose from.

Our favourite restaurant in the area, this award winning seafood restaurant and cocktail bar offers offers fantastic food in a unique and atmospheric setting. Station Kitchen offers contemporary twists on the classics and rustic hearty dishes which are real crowd pleasers.

The Three Horseshoes, Burton Bradstock
Best for: Great food, Cosy interior, Summer Terrace
This award winning gastropub sites in the heart of the picturesque village of Burton Bradstock, within walking distance of the coast. It promises home cooked pub food using seasonal local produce, Palmers real ales, fine wines and a great atmosphere. With the log fires burning in the winter, and the sun trap garden for the summer, its a great all round destination.

Best for: Seafood, Beach front location
A restaurant right on Chesil Beach in the village of West Bexington, which offers everything from fresh seafood to cocktails on the terrace for sunset. We’ve found it to be a great place for a special evening meal.

Best for: Local seafood, Panoramic views
A Mark Hix restaurant, offering panoramic views of the Cobb Harbour and Jurassic Coast from both inside and its wrap around terrace. The menu focuses on local seafood and produce, with an emphasis on the suppliers that Mark Hix has built relationships with over the years.
